On 30th June 2021 Your Home Care employees lead by Josh our Recruitment Manager, will be hosting a 24hr gameathon which will be streamed live on the popular streaming platform Twitch for GAME OVER Dementia, an Alzheimer’s Society event. Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Over 850,000 people are living with dementia right now and 1 in 3 of us will be affected in our lifetime. In the UK someone develops dementia every 3 minutes, this means that for every two hours of gaming, 40 people will have developed dementia.

Your Home Care are proud to be able to help support the Alzheimer’s Society by helping raise awareness amongst a typically younger audience. Reportedly, 41% of Twitch viewers are aged between 16 and 24 with a further 32% in the 25 to 34 age group.

Your Home Care employees will be playing various games including Call of Duty War Zone, Fortnite and more in an effort to raise as much money as possible. You can donate via our JustGiving page in the run up to the event or on the day.

A special guest will also be playing at the event, Paralympian Ollie Hynd MBE. Ollie a 3-time Paralympic gold medallist in London and Rio along with an MBE for services to swimming is an avid gamer.
