Medication assistance at home
From simple reminders to PEG feed support, our trained carers make sure medication is taken correctly and on time. Every dose is recorded electronically so families can see what happened.
What this means in practice
Getting every dose right, every time
Getting medication right matters. A missed dose, a double dose, or tablets taken at the wrong time can cause real problems. For families who cannot be there at every medication time, it is a constant worry. Our carers take that worry away.
At the simplest level, a carer will prompt someone to take their medication at the right time and check that they have done so. For people who need more help, the carer will open the blister pack, hand over the right tablets, and stay to make sure they are swallowed. Everything is recorded electronically at the time it happens, not written up later from memory.
Families tell us the electronic records make all the difference. They can see what was given without having to phone.
What we hear most often
For clients with more complex needs, we provide PEG feed support and training for specific medication types. Our carers do not just learn a generic process. They are trained on the individual client's medication regime and assessed as competent before they start. If the medication changes, the training is updated before the carer gives the new prescription.
Is this right for your family
Who this is for
If your family member takes regular medication and you are worried about whether they are taking it properly, this is for you. Maybe they forget, take the wrong dose, or get confused when the GP changes their prescription. Perhaps they need PEG feeding or liquid medication that requires more than just a prompt.
You do not need to be receiving other care from us to get medication support. Some families come to us specifically for this.

What makes us different
How we do it
Training, technology and close collaboration with prescribers. These are the things that keep medication safe.
Trained and competency-assessed staff
Every carer completes medication training during onboarding covering safe handling, storage, recording and every level of support. For complex needs like PEG feeds, they receive additional tailored training and are assessed before they start.
Electronic medication records
All medication events are logged electronically in real time. No handwritten notes, no waiting until the next office check-in. If something is missed or refused, it is flagged immediately.
GP and pharmacy collaboration
If we spot a potential issue, such as a client struggling to swallow tablets or a medication causing side effects, we raise it with the prescriber rather than just carrying on.
Family app visibility
See exactly what was given, when it was given, and who gave it. The family app gives you peace of mind without having to phone the office or wait for an update.
When a carer is assigned to a client with specific medication needs, they receive additional, tailored training. If the client has a PEG feed, the carer is trained on that exact system. If they take medication that requires particular timing or preparation, the carer practises until they are confident and is assessed before they start.
Your questions answered
Common questions about medication assistance
Answers to the things families ask us most often.
Both. Some clients just need a reminder to take their tablets. Others need the carer to physically administer medication: taking it out of the blister pack, handing it over, and recording that it was taken. For more complex medication needs, including liquid medication and PEG feeds, we have staff who are specifically trained and competency-assessed.
Every medication event is recorded electronically through our care system. Families can access this through the app, so you can see exactly what was given, when, and by whom. If anything is missed or refused, you will know about it.
We update the care plan straight away when medication changes. The carer is notified before the next visit and the medication administration record is updated. If a new medication requires specific training, for example a change in PEG feed prescription, we arrange that before the carer administers it.
Yes, where this is part of the agreed care plan and the carer has completed the appropriate training. Controlled drugs are handled according to strict protocols with additional recording and checks.
