The honest version

What's the job actually like?

You will be visiting people in their own homes, usually within a few miles of where you live. A typical morning round starts around 7am. You might help someone get out of bed, have a wash and get dressed. You will prompt them to take their medication, make them a cup of tea, and have a chat before heading to your next visit.

Afternoon visits are a bit different. You might be helping someone prepare lunch, taking them to an appointment, or just sitting down for a proper conversation. Some people you visit live alone and you might be the only person they see that day.

It is real work. Some days are physically tiring. Some visits are emotional. But you will go home knowing you made a genuine difference to someone's day. Most of our team say that is what keeps them coming back.

You are not just doing tasks off a list. You are building relationships with real people. That is what makes it different from any other job I have had.

Care assistant, Mansfield

Day 1

Your training is paid from your very first day with us

New to care?

No experience? That's fine.

Most of our team came from completely different careers. Retail, warehouses, hairdressing, teaching assistants, factory work. What they all had in common was wanting to do something that mattered. If that sounds like you, we will teach you the rest.

Training starts with a three-day induction. You will spend two and a half days at our office covering everything you need, from moving and handling to medication and safeguarding. On the last half day, you head out with an experienced carer to see what a real visit looks like. All your practical training is completed during induction, so you hit the ground ready.

From day one, you are assigned a personal mentor. Before you go solo, you shadow experienced carers on their rounds until you feel confident. Your Care Certificate observations are completed on the job, so you keep learning as you go.

Qualifications can come later. What we look for is people who are kind, reliable, and can hold a proper conversation. If you can make someone a decent cup of tea and treat them like your own nan, you are halfway there.

Experienced carers

Already working in care?

If you are already a carer but you are fed up with being sent to a different house every day, rushed between calls with no travel time, or working for a company that treats you like a number, this is different.

We keep teams small and consistent. You will have your own regular clients in a local patch, so you build real relationships instead of constantly meeting strangers. Our Mansfield branch is rated Outstanding by the CQC, and our Ripley branch is run by the same team with the same standards.

We pay 40p per mile for every mile you drive, not just between calls. We pay £15 an hour, rising from £14.50 during your six-month probation. And if you want to progress, we will fund your qualifications and help you move up.

Small, consistent teams. Same clients each week.

CQC Outstanding. Proper standards, not just talk.

40p per mile, paid for every mile you drive.

Funded qualifications. Real career progression.

Real story

Aimee started where you would.

Aimee joined us as a home care assistant. She did the job, loved it, and kept putting her hand up for more. We moved her into a recruitment role. She completed her Train the Trainer qualification and took over all Care Certificate training and inductions for new starters.

From there, she enrolled on her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care. She passed with distinction. Today she is part of our management team.

Aimee is one of several staff who have progressed from care assistant through to senior roles and office positions. The route is there if you want it.

From our team

What our carers say

I was stacking shelves at the supermarket for eight years. A friend told me about care work and I thought, why not? Best decision I ever made. I actually look forward to going to work now.

Sarah

Care Assistant, 2 years · Mansfield

I came from warehouse work. The training was spot on and they paired me with a senior carer for my first few weeks. I was nervous at first, but the people you visit make it worth it. They become like family.

Mark

Senior Care Assistant · Sutton-in-Ashfield

I left my old company because I was being sent all over the county to people I had never met. Here, I have my own patch. I see the same faces every week and I can actually do the job properly.
